PTG Board Meeting Minutes of October 7, 2009
 
Sister Dorothy – School Items
Sr. Dorothy announced that Ms. Nebel and Mrs. Hill will not be returning as faculty members for the 2010/2011 school year.  She is also diligently working with all faculty members to ensure a positive school environment with a united faculty, striving to fulfill the mission of the school.  Dismissal procedures have been changed in order to ensure the safety of students.  The Terra Nova tests have been scheduled to be conducted in late April, instead of early March this school year.  A Central Catholic HS visit has been scheduled for the 8Th grade boys to attend.  The 8Th grade girls have already visited Oakland Catholic HS.  Cafeteria adjustments have also been made, the tables have been arranged in order for all to students to be seated closer to each other and empty space has been eliminated.  Donations of Nerf balls are needed for recess.  The 2009 Superintendent's Report on the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Pittsburgh was distributed.
 
Athletic Association
Joanne Saunders reported that there were enough players in order to have a CDTCA varsity soccer team.

 

Heidi Kipp/AnnMarie Kiszka - PTG Auxiliary
 It was reported that there is the need for a Chairperson for Math Pentathlon.  Megan Newell held the position, however the Nowell family will be moving in December.  The group is well organized and has Co-Chairs in place.  The open position will oversee that the functions and activities of the group run smoothly.  Lottery calendars will soon be available at a cost of $25 each.  Anyone interested should see Anne Cooper.  The magazine sale was a huge success.  Additional orders may still be placed earning credit for CDTCA.  PTG Auxiliary minutes are available on the website.  Stressed the importance of attending the Protecting God's Children workshop in order to be eligible to volunteer.  New fundraisers suggested, such as Enjoy books, Kids Stuff books, and garbage bags.  A school open house will be held on November 19Th.
 
Luminaries - Sandy DiGregory
Luminaries are to be sold at "Fall in the Wall" event, as well as Aspinwall "Light Up Night".  Price to be determined.  Suggested prices as follows, $15 each/2 for $24, or $12 each/ 2 for $20. Efforts being made to have an announcement of sales made at all masses.  Also hoping to have sales mentioned in the Herald.
 
Joanne Saunders/Sandy DiGregory - Fall Fling
Invitations have been mailed to all school families and parishoners.  Event will be held at the Pittsburgh Field Club.  Terri Ciccone to plan the menu.  Ed Podgorski and Heath Kipp to provide DJ and live auctioneer services.  Dan Willmer to be MC for the event.  Efforts in progress to ensure the ability of accepting credit card payments.  Sandy reported that 35-40 items for silent auction have already been obtained.  A 50/50 raffle will be held.  There will also be a $2,000 Henne gift certificate to be raffled.  Keys to open the treasure chest holding the gift certificate will be sold for $20 each.  Alcohol will be collected at the gift gathering party to contribute towards an auction item, which will consist of a wheelbarrel of alcohol.  There will also be a Chinese Auction raffle.  Entertainment by Art Madness.
 
Certificates – Colleen Strahler
The end of the first period will be Sept 30th.  Statements will be sent out in January, including Christmas payouts.  Families who did not participate will be notified in January, along with a request for their participation in the future.  A flyer will be distributed in the church bulletin the third week of every month.  Also hoping to have order form posted on the church's website.
October 20th will be Max & Erma's night.  Request made for reminder to register our school in Target rewards program. 
 
Financial
Anne Cooper, Treasurer, reported $300 currently in account.  Outstanding prizes for lottery calendars still remain to be paid.  Magazine sales profited $2,206.  Outstanding bills also remain to be paid.  Artist for Fall Fling - $1,500 (deposit of $750 already paid), printing of invitations for Fall Fling - $80, luminaries - $550, miscellaneous - $200, lottery calendars - $359.  Lottery calendars usually result in a profit of $5,000-$6,000.  Four payouts of $16,000 to be made by the PTG throughout the year.  Last year's goal was not met, 3 payouts were made for the full amount, however the fourth payment was in the amount of $10,000.  The first payment for this year is currently due, but will not be available until November.  The PTG is required to contribute a total of $64,00/year towards the school budget.  
 
Board Elections
Final order of business was to elect a secretary and vice president.  Joanne Saunders asked Julie Podgorski and Dan Willmer to joing the Board.  Sandy seconded the motion.  The votes were unanimous.  Dan is VP and Julie is secretary.
 
There being no further business, Joanne Saunders made a motion, which was seconded to adjourn the meeting.

Joanne Saunders thanked all those in attendance for coming to the meeting and distributed the evening’s agenda.  Sister Dorothy led the group in an opening prayer.  Each attendee introduced him/herself.  We welcomed a new family, The Willmers.  Joanne asked for a volunteer to fill in as secretary in Terri Ciccone's absence.
