CDTCA's Developmental Basketball Program Philosophy
The developmental basketball program's primary focus will be to teach the fundamental skills of the game of basketball, to develop a basic understanding of playing within the team concept, promote equitable playing opportunities for all members of the program and most importantly to emphasize a fun time for the young players learning the game. There will be no emphasis on winning and losing in this program. Through the season, each player will improve his/her basketball skills.
If a player needs to miss a practice / game, please call or email one of the coaches.
The team practices will be the focus of the majority of the development of the players, especially in the early part of the season. The program roster(s) appear to include 10-12 players, making for practice sessions that can be highly productive, somewhat challenging, yet ultimately rewarding for all of the participants. It is our goal to conduct each practice with -- at the very least -- a 5:1 player to coach ratio.
There will be approximately 10-12 games scheduled . The games are played with a running clock and there is no score kept. Other rules for the developmental age include using of smaller basketball (28.5 size) and foul shots taken at least one foot inside the regular foul line.
